Welcome Lyndon Meehan, Specialist in Endodontics
This month we welcome Lyndon Meehan to our team of dental specialists, based at our new private referral practice in Bristol. Lyndon specialises in Endodontics and brings with him a wealth of experience in this field, further expanding the wide range of dental specialities that we can offer patients referred to us.
As with all our Specialists, Lyndon is passionate about dentistry and as an expert in Endodontics he has combined this passion with his love of sport, and a keen interest in sports dentistry. He has managed complex and challenging trauma/Endodontic cases on professional athletes, allowing them to continue competing.
Graduating from the University of Wales Institute Cardiff in 2000 with a degree in Dental Technology, and then from Cardiff Dental School in 2005, Lyndon went on to complete the MJDF examination at the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2009. He furthered his Endodontic studies by gaining a master’s in clinical Endodontics in 2015 and successfully gained his Membership in Endodontics at the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh in 2019. He was subsequently admitted onto the General Dental Council specialist register.
Prior to becoming an Endodontics Specialist, Lyndon worked for many years in general practice, and in restorative dentistry at Morriston Hospital, Swansea where he developed the departmental role of speciality dentist in Endodontics. He broadened his endodontic experience by working at the prestigious department of Dental Traumatology and Endodontics at Kings College Dental Hospital London. Lyndon’s clinical and research interests include immediate management and subsequent Endodontic rehabilitation of teeth, following traumatic injuries.
Lyndon has several journal and textbook publications and lectures nationally. Within his clinical interest Lyndon was proud to have been a council member of the UK faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine and Dental Trauma UK.
Lyndon provides advice on Dental trauma to the England and Wales cricket board and played his part in providing Dental treatment in the athlete’s village polyclinic during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games. He was honoured to be the pitch side Dentist as part of the medical team for Rugby World Cup 2015 and the Champions League final in 2017.
Currently on match days, Lyndon can be found as part of the medical team pitch-side providing immediate care and advice on dental trauma to the senior squads and opposing teams with the Welsh Football Association, Welsh Rugby Union and Cardiff City FC
Lyndon has extensive experience in accepting and managing complex Endodontic referrals under operating microscope and is happy to accept and discuss any referral cases. We are excited to have him join the team and look forward to welcoming referring patients.
