Here we will try and give you some information about cookies.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file stored by your web browser on your computer or mobile device. Some cookies are essential for the sites to work and help us provide you with relevant information. They also allow us to recognise your computer (but not specifically who is using it) when you access our sites and to improve the usability and performance of our sites.
We use three different types of cookies:
1) Performance – cookies which measure how often you visit our site and how you use it. We use this information to get a better sense of how our patients and referring dentists use our website. For example, we collect information about which of our pages are most frequently visited and by which types of users. For example, our google analytics cookie gives us information such as your journey between pages and whether you’ve downloaded anything or booked an appointment through our online booking tool.
2) Functionality – cookies that are used to recognise you and remember who you are. For example, our online booking tool will remember who you are and automatically fill in your address.
3) Marketing – cookies that are used to collect information about your visit to our site, the content you have viewed and the links you have followed. For example, we have placed a Facebook Pixel on our web pages which allows Facebook to place cookies on a web browser. When a patient who uses Facebook returns to Facebook, Facebook can identify them as someone interested in dental treatment and on behalf of Bristol Dental Specialists can serve them with marketing messages from us.
